Loving husband of 50 years to Lorraine.
Father to Matthew, Julie and Katrina. Father in law to Peter and Poppy to
Mackenzie, Georgia and Ayva.
Taken too soon, he will be missed by so many.
May he now rest in peace with the Lord after a long courageous battle.

Requiem Mass for the Repose of the Soul of Mr. Denis Matthew Stanes
was offered at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Korumburra Road, Wonthaggi
on MONDAY (Nov. 28, 2022) commencing at 2:00pm.
At the conclusion of Mass the funeral will leave for the Wonthaggi Cemetery.

    Deepest sympathy to the Stanes family, Denis always stopped for a quick chat and had a story to share. No matter what Denis turned his hand to, it was done right. He will be missed.

      Denis was generous with his time always liked to have a little chat. He put his heart and soul into golf in our district and then into bowls. We considered Denis to be a friend and will miss his clever and funny quips about life. We extend sincere condolences to his wife, Lorraine, and their family.

    Loving thoughts to Lorraine, Matt, Julie, Katrina and family. The commitment shown by Denis to the South Gippsland golf and lawn bowls districts is well known and appreciated. Denis gave 100% to anything he undertook- he didn’t mind being labelled “Denis the Menace”. I will miss our many in-depth discussions, and the many stories he would relate from his association with so many people over his 76 years. Not missing the ringtone on his phone though!!

    The Meeniyan Golf club would like to send condolences to Lorraine and family on the passing of Dennis. Dennis was a long standing and very efficient Secretary of the South Gippsland Golf Association.
    Everything was organized so well when Dennis was in charge.

    Job well done Dennis. Rest in peace.

    There are few that for all the right reasons are never forgotten. Denis is one of the few and my friend who I will never forget. Miss you mate.

    The South Gippsland Golf Association Board members would like to send sincere condolences to Lorraine and family on the passing of Denis. Denis was a most respected and hardworking Secretary for many years. His commitment to the betterment of all district golf will always be remembered.

    To Lorraine and family,
    Denis was a great man and friend to me.
    I will miss his smiling face around the Wonthaggi bowling club and other clubs.
    Sorry I couldn’t make it to the funeral today.
    Wonthaggi bowling club last a great member.

    Over a year ago this true gentleman left us to go on another adventure that I’m sure wasn’t on his current bucket list. It is true to say that I miss him more than I could have imagined and that he is very often in my thoughts. Rest in peace my friend.
