So sorry that Rim is no longer with us. His kind and firm support for climate action inspired LVSG to continue in the face of local opposition. Much sympathy to his beloved family.

Sending our deepest sympathies to Helen, Emily, Sam and family on the passing of Rim. We remember his days at Mirboo North SC and especially the day he placed a dead wombat in the staff fridge! Also his pet wombat who chewed through his back door at home in Berry’s Creek.
    RIP Rim

I had the privilege of meeting Rim in his later years through the Latrobe Valley Sustainability Group. Rim was an inspiration to me. His quiet passion for caring for people and the planet was truly admirable. Rim wasn’t afraid to stand up for his beliefs. Time and again he willingly put confutes up on his front fence proclaiming, ‘Climate Action Now,’ ‘No to Nuclear,’ despite the fact that some in the neighborhood would time and again rip them down.
Rim always had a lovely sparkle in his eye when he talked about his family particularly his much-treasured little granddaughters.
Rim will be greatly missed by everyone at the Latrobe Valley Sustainability Group.

Sincerest sympathy to Rims family. I had the privilege to work alongside Rim tutoring new arrivals in English at Morwell TAFE. In the early days we would often go on excursions, one in particular being to Loy Yang PS. This is where I discovered Rims passion for photography. Years later I caught up with him at a Farmers market in Moe where he was assisting at the LV sustainability stall. He showed me his awesome astral photos taken in the west and was planning trips overseas to capture eclipses and other such wondrous events. He appreciated beauty in nature and captured many events with his talent and passion as a photographer. His collection a wonderful legacy for others to enjoy and remember him through his eyes. Rest in Peace Rim.

I experienced Rim’s spirit of adventure and love of the outdoors when he took me skiing in 1977. We stayed at the only building on Dinner Plains then: the old drovers’ hut. Rugged. We can still appreciate Rim’s photographic prowess in the 8mm film he took at our wedding in 1984. Rim’s interests and talents were remarkable—from raising carnivorous plants, to restoring old Citroens, to repairing scientific equipment. He was a kind, generous man who’ll be sorely missed by his family, colleagues, and friends. Our sincere condolences to Helen and all of Rim’s family.
