MACKLIN- Donald Vernon

10-03-1946 - 29-01-2023

There are no words to express how heart broken our family is with the passing of our wonderful Husband, Father, Step-Father and Poppy. Donald was the epitome of a gentleman and we are very blessed to have called him ours.

Donald was a proud and capable man, dearly loved and will be sorely missed by our family, friends and the many football, cricket, and local communities he dedicated his time and in turn loved him so much.

May he rest in peace having lived a meaningful, loving and full life. “Our Donnie” provided so many wonderful memories for those fortunate enough to have known him and for this we will forever be grateful.

His loving family.

    Smacka!
Worlds best electrician. South Croydon ‘Mudlucker’ and ‘Bulldog’ man from head to toe .

We often spoke about South Croydon’s first premiership team – the under 15’s in 1970 and what a high standard of skill and determination was in that group and what a benefit they would be when they come through to the seniors to play!

Always positive and had a funny story to tell and to finish off with that amazing smile that he had. Let alone his great skills as a correspondent and poet!
Loved to be recognised as the Club’s No 1 correspondent!

He was a great supporter of the Juniors and in 1973 it was an epic year for the Seniors playing Upper Gully in the drawn Grand Final and next week winning the replay at Lilydale- I’ll never forget the expression of shear joy on Don Macklin’s face in the change rooms after the game!
That was just the start of those Premierships over the decades and he was at everyone of them supporting. As an ex player and supporter he would have seen over 600 or more games.

You may not be able to stand with us at the football anymore Smacka but you will always be there with us.

Love you heaps PMAC and Kathy .
