May 7, 2024 at 11:49 amMy deepest sympathy for the loss of Captain Dick Lowey. He was one of the first Master’s I sailed under upon starting my career at sea. I will never forget his kind spirit and how he always looked after his crew onboard. We used to chat often about our shared passion for fishing. It was a privilege to sail with Captain Dick and he will always be remembered.

May 9, 2024 at 3:33 pmDear Rick, Daniel, Peter and families.
Our deepest condolences on the passing of Richard.
Richard and Carol were wonderful, kind, decent people and a devoted couple and loving, supportive parents. I have wonderful memories of all the dinners and card games, chats and laughs we had together over many years and the times the children played together. Such a sad loss and hard to bear so soon after Carol’s passing.
With all our sympathy and deepest condolences to you all.
Love, Maree and children John and Jessica.

May 21, 2024 at 7:59 amOn Behalf of Brambles /Toll / & Strait Link Shipping – sincere sympathy on the passing of Captain
Dick Lowey – Dick joined our Company from ASP & the good ship Torgnes(MV Enterprise) which we managed for Jebsens. Dick was a prolific man – he was loyal to his men & women under his Command with our Samsung Ships – Tasmanian Achiever. He was a warrior for the AMOU serving many years in support of Fred Ross. On the Bridge – Dick trained many of our Cadets. He loved a punt & the Snapper season in & around the Bay – he will be missed by the Many who sailed under his Watch.
Vale Captain Dick Lowey.

May 21, 2024 at 4:25 pmMy condolences on the passing of Richard “Dick” Lowey
I had the pleasure of sailing with Dick as Chief Mate and then as Captain, he did love his job of going to sea. He always looked after his fellow seafarers onboard looking after their welfare. He handled the maneuvering of vessel very well with his own style, he definitely did not like cattle truck which he would remind me on many occasions.
We will miss Dick. Happy sailing.

May 21, 2024 at 9:36 pmI had the honour of sailing with Captain Dick for about 6 years on the Tasmanian Achiever which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was never any pressure & work was fun. He was extremely proud of his family especially his sons, fishing around the Western Port area in his tinnie and his punts (only the ones in his favour tho). He was always protective of his Officers & with him we knew he had our back. Being a former AMOU official & a delegate to represent us in EA negotiations, he had our best interest at the forefront. He was missed when he retired. Captain Dick did give me the confidence in undertaking my ShipHandling training under his Command in the very early days.
My heartfelt condolences to his family. RIP Dick – you are loved & will be missed by all Crew & Officers onboard the Tasmanian Achiever during his tenure with us.

May 22, 2024 at 11:18 amCaptain Dick’s unwavering support and leadership were like an anchor in the midst of life’s storms. His legacy of selflessness, always putting others first, will forever guide us as we navigate the open sea of grief.
His dedication to his crew was unparalleled—a beacon of strength and compassion. As we bid him farewell, may the winds be fair, and the seas he now sails be calm.
And who can forget his iconic “good thanks”? It never failed to bring a smile to our faces, a reminder of his warmth and genuine spirit.
May Captain Dick’s memory continue to inspire us, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
With deepest sympathy,
Harvey

May 31, 2024 at 8:42 amDear Rick, Daniel & Bethany & Peter & Rhea,
My sincere condolence’s on the passing of Captain Dick. I used to relieve Dick as his opposite number on the good ship “Tasmanian Achiever” for over 10 years. Dick was a very likable person and on the day he relieved me he had many stories (fishing, about his kitchen which was going to come up) to tell me before he took over the vessel from me. Once I started talking about the hand over and the hand over documents Dick was in a hurry to get me out of the room which I knew. He will tell Lenny all good not a problem and get up from his seat. He will sea say “good thanks Lenny see you next swing & have a good leave”…..
Dick was a very kind & a gentle person. He had a an answer for everything & he would not tolerate people who were against the union cause. He always fought for you if it was the correct thing against the company & always stood by you.
It is with great sadness we all mourn the untimely demise of Captain Dick. “REST IN PEACE” my friend
May his memory live on in the hearts of Toll, & Strait link community
With deepest sympathies to the family
Kind Regards
Leonard Fernando
