sad to read this, Phil was a cracker of a guy. Always enjoyed the chats when he caught the bus from Mirboo North to Morwell every morning when I was working over there 12 or so years back. Then enjoyed a quick hello as we passed each other in Leongatha a couple of times a month since then. RIP Phil and thanks for all the great laughs over the years! Still laugh at how you coulden’t remember my real name and I gave up reminding you so the name stuck! So I will sign this message as you called me. RIP Buddy!! – Lochie

    Phil Mate
I will miss coffee every Thursday at 8.45 in Leongatha, the plotting and planning for what we were or weren’t going to do, you chastising me for being late, not shaving or something as usual, our banter. Mate you were my mentor/teacher/go to person for advice, my friend and all-around good bloke. I will miss your interesting discussions with the computer and mobile phone and the threats you made to both, your love of all things technical always had me in stitches. Yours is a big act to follow, I will give it my best shot. As Mahatma Gandhi once said; There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you go you will always be in my heart. Thanks, mate Terry

    Phil,
I will miss our most interesting discussions when you used to appear at the RSL Veterans Annex on a Friday after having forgot something you left behind on Thursday. Your visits were like a world wind and always brightened my day. I never did make it to your Fish Lunches on a Friday and will no longer be able to leave you notes on the desk. My deepest sympathy to Jan and the family.
You will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
    Gary.

On behalf of the Grand Ridge Rail Trail Committee of Management, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Phil’s family and loved ones.

Phil was a valued member of our committee and a dear friend to many of us. His steady leadership, kind spirit, and deep commitment to our community left a lasting legacy. The Grand Ridge Rail Trail is better because of him—and so are we.
